Since I will be over 35 years old when I have this baby, I have been categorized as "AMA" Advanced Maternal Age. Due to the fact that someone long ago decided that eggs got old and that the risk for genetic disorders increases at 35, I got to go have some fun testing and genetic counseling. The tests included a blood draw that measures a hormone produced by the placenta and the
measurement of the thickness of the baby's neck through ultrasound. I will have to return for another blood draw in a couple weeks that measures 2 proteins and 2 more hormones. After that, I will
receive my results as to the "risk" of chromosomal abnormalities in my baby. Here are the pictures that I got from the ultrasound! It is no longer a blob! What a cute little profile.
