Seriously?!?
This, among other reasons is why I don't cook. OK, so here I am trying to do something nice for our neighbors for Christmas, and I am just getting more frustrated by the minute. I am (trying) to make chocolate chip cookies, and none of them are turning out! The first batch, not quite done... second batch turns out OK... the next batch is burned, so I turned the oven down, lessened the time..... still burned... same story for the next, so I set the time 3 minutes less, buzzer rings, cookies not done, so I think to myself, I will scoop the next batch on the pan while keeping a close eye on the cookies, so that takes me what, one minute? Burned! After a couple more tries, finally success! I use to be able to make awesome cookies, in fact, after our second or third date, I made Ry some chocolate chip cookies and that is why he asked me out again. He even told me that he liked them better than his Moms cookies, now THAT is a complement because she is a fabulous cook! I hope our neighbors like burned cookies............

Blame it on your oven or the thermostat. Our oven here in Germany is HORRIBLE. It fluctuates temps so much that almost nothing turns out the same twice. Plus, it heats from the top, so it's like trying to bake with your broiler. I've learned to cover most things about 1/3 the way through but even with that method, things don't always turn out. It is so frustrating, indeed!
