Air show
Ry had the opportunity to take the boys and Grandpa P to the Air show last Saturday at our neighboring Air Force Base. They had an awesome experience seeing and touching the different aircraft. Ry is really knowledgeable about the different types and names of some of the jets, and so it was a thrill for him to be able to go and see them up close. I am limited in my knowledge about planes. I know that A is for attacker, B is for bomber, C is for cargo, and F is for fighter. I worked the night before, and then again Saturday night after the wedding, so I stayed home with Peachy and tried to get some sleep.(rather unsuccessfully, the ear plugs worked wonders, but Peachy wanted to play instead of snuggle!) Hopefully I will be able to go to one sometime in the future. The boys had fun, and I am glad that they got to go. I am not so good with heat and large crowds of people, so it was nice to be able to see the flight acrobatics from my own back yard!!
When I was a little girl and would visit my Grandma, I LOVED to hang out on her balcony and watch the jets fly. Now that I live close to her old home, I get to see them almost daily, and honestly, it is still a thrill. When we first moved here, it was a bit of an adjustment getting use to the noise of jets flying directly over my house, but it has never really bothered me. It is a constant reminder of the freedoms that I enjoy and the blessings that I have because I live in this country. I am so grateful for the brave Men and Women that serve in The United States Armed Forces. If it weren't for them, I would not have the freedoms and opportunities that I have been blessed with. I still watch the jets with wonder, amazement, and a grateful heart as they fly overhead shaking my windows. I still can't name the different aircraft, but I am beginning to recognize the different sounds and which ones are louder and faster. I am able to distinguish between a Cargo plane and Fighter, just by the sound of the take off, I guess that is what I get living less then a mile from an Air Force Base. Again, I am so appreciative and grateful for those individuals that are brave enough and courageous enough to serve this great country that I live in. I just wanted to thank my Brother in law Scott, for his service in the Navy, you are an amazing example of strength and loyalty, you have sacrificed so much for this country, and I am so grateful for you and your service! I am proud to have you as part of my family! I encourage everyone reading this blog to thank someone that serves in the Military, they are true heros.
